How do I pair my luggage?
Once you’ve placed the (2x) AAA batteries in the power unit, turn on the Bluetooth function on your phone, open the Heys Smart Luggage® app and login. Tap the Smart Luggage® icon then tap the Pair button. Once connected, you will be prompted to name your luggage. Name your luggage and tap Add Luggage to complete the set up.

How do I pair additional luggage?
To pair additional luggage, tap on the Settings icon, then tap on the Luggage tab. There you will see an +Add Luggage button. Tap on that button and the app will then search for a new luggage to pair with.

How do I replace the battery?
Open the luggage. Unzip the interior lining of the rear compartment to access the power unit. Open the battery compartment by turning the screw lock then place (2x) AAA batteries inside.

How do I get the Heys Smart Luggage® app?
Go to the Apple App store or Google Play store, search for the Heys Smart Luggage and then download it.

How do I lock my luggage?
Insert the zipper puller tabs into the remote lock. Tap the Smart Luggage® icon, tap the Lock tab and then tap the padlock icon button in the center. To unlock, simply tap the same button. Please note that the luggage auto-locks after 30 secs without activity. If the zipper puller tabs are left inserted in the lock, you will need to unlock your luggage again using the app or your keys.

What do the LED lights represent?
There are two LED light colours that illuminate from the remote lock.
- BLUE: luggage is unlocked
- RED: luggage is locked -
How do I weigh my luggage?
Tap the Smart Luggage icon, tap the Scale tab and then tap the weigh icon in the center. Lift the luggage using the top carry handle and hold it still until the weight is displayed on the screen.

How do I toggle between imperial and metric units?
Once the weight is displayed on the screen, a button indicating “LBS” and “KG” will appear below the weight. Tapping this button will toggle between imperial and metric units.

How do I check if my luggage is within range?
Tap the Smart Luggage® icon, tap the Proximity tab and then tap the track icon in the center. A proximity alarm appears when your luggage is out of range.

How does the proximity sensor work?
The technology uses short-range Bluetooth signals which allow the app to detect and give you a notification on your phone as well as an audible warning if your luggage is not within your immediate area.

What is the Bluetooth range?
The proximity range is approximately 30 feet/10 metres. The proximity range can be set to Short, Mid, or Long Range for customized proximity alerts. From time to time, interference may be produced by physical obstructions such as buildings or walls, or by digital obstructions such as radio antennas or devices which produce radio frequency signals.

How do I shut off the proximity alarm?

How long does the battery last?
The (2x) AAA battery life will vary depending on usage, but on average should last approx. 5,000 actions. There is also a battery icon on the Smart Luggage® app that will allow you to keep track of the device’s battery life.

Is the Smart Luggage® flight legal?
Yes, the Smart Luggage® is flight legal. It’s powered by (2x) AAA batteries, not Lithium-Ion (Li-Ion) batteries and its dimensions are all within airline regulations. All sizes of the Smart Luggage® are flight legal.

Does it use Lithium-Ion (Li-Ion) batteries?
No it does not. The Smart Luggage® is powered by (2x) AAA batteries.

Do airline regulations restrict the use of Smart Luggage®?
Our Heys Smart Luggage® is NOT restricted as it is powered by (2x) AAA batteries. Only luggage with Lithium-ion (Li-Ion) batteries are restricted by some Airline regulations. The Heys Smart Luggage® does NOT use Lithium batteries.

Is it safe to fly with Smart Luggage®?
Yes, it is 100% safe to fly with Heys Smart Luggage® as it uses standard AAA batteries. It does not use or contain Lithium batteries.

What happens if the electronics break?
The electronic components in your luggage are covered by a 1 Year Heys warranty. You can connect with the Heys Customer Service Department for the region you are in.

What are the dimensions of the luggage?
The 21” carry-on measures 21” x 15” x 9”. The 26” check-in measures 26” x 18” x 10.5 and the 30” check-in is 30” x 20” x 12”.

How much does the luggage weigh?
Apart from its tech features, the Smart Luggage® is also remarkably lightweight. The 21” carry-on weighs 6.2 lbs. The The 26” check-in weighs 8.0 lbs and the 30” check-in is 9.8 lbs.

What materials are used in the luggage?
The exterior shell of the Smart Luggage® is made from 100% Bayer Makrolon® polycarbonate; the most durable, flexible and lightweight material used in luggage today.

Is the Smart Luggage carry-on approved?
Yes. The Smart Luggage® (21”) is a flight legal, carry-on approved luggage. It measures 21” x 15” x 9” which fits within the maximum allowable dimensions for carry-on luggage for most airlines.

How do I clean my luggage?
Light dirt and scuff marks on your luggage can be removed by wiping it with a cloth dampened with warm water and mild dish soap. For tougher jobs, try the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser cleaning products which are readily available at most stores.

Is the luggage scratch-resistant?
The Smart Luggage exterior has a durable matte surface finish that helps prevent scratches and scuff marks.

Yes, the Smart Luggage is both FCC and CE certified.

Does the Smart Luggage comply with the regulatory requirements set by the travel industry?
Yes. The Smart Luggage complies with the safety standards set forth by the FAA, TSA, and the IATA.

Is there a warranty?
Yes. The Smart Luggage comes with a 10 year Heys Executive Class Limited Warranty on the luggage and a 1 year warranty on the electronics components.

The luggage won’t pair with my phone, how can I get it to pair?
Check if the Smart Luggage® is activated by removing the batteries and then putting them back in. The remote lock should activate and the lights will turn blue. Another option is to try turning off the Bluetooth function on your phone and then turning it on again, to check that it is detecting the Smart Luggage®. If the luggage still does not pair, please reboot your phone and try again.

The function icons are shown in grey and none of the features seem to be functioning.
This means that your Smart Luggage® is too far away from you and has been disconnected. The app should reconnect with the luggage automatically once the luggage gets in closer proximity.

The weight doesn’t seem to be accurate, how do I recalibrate the scale?
While in the scale function, the digital scale can be re-calibrated by tapping on the “Calibrate” icon located on the bottom right of the app. Do not touch the scale handle when calibrating. If the scale is still reading the wrong weight follow these steps: remove the batteries, delete the luggage from the Smart Luggage app, place the batteries back in, pair with the luggage and re-calibrate.

The lights on the scale don’t seem to be working?
First, check the battery level of your Smart Luggage®. If it’s low, replace the batteries. You can also try restarting the Smart Luggage® app.

What happens if my phone runs out of battery and I need to unlock my luggage?
You will need to have your phone charged and powered up to connect to the Remote Lock so that you can unlock it. In case of an emergency, a key is supplied with every Smart Luggage®. You may also borrow a friend's phone to connect with your luggage. Simply download the Smart Luggage® app, log in using your account and you’ll once again have full control of your Smart Luggage®.
